A fostering agency Key Assets in Australia decided to put an experiment together to see the public’s reaction. They made two children stand in the centre of Australia’s busiest mall to see how people would react and what they would do. Within 8 hours only 21 people came forward to speak to the children who claimed to be lost. The adults were very concerned as they wanted to help find the parents, but little did they know it was an experiment to raise awareness on fostering children.
The sad reality is that more than 43,000 children in Australia need to be fostered, they need care and protection. Often children are left abandoned by their biological parents or are not looked after properly which leaves the child feeling lost and unwanted. These children used in the experiment were actors to show the public how worrying the situation is.
