In New York City, an ice cream shop owner called Jason Liu makes sure that his equipment is sanitised every single day. He says that the quality of the ice cream tastes much better and protects it from bacteria. But there are many ice cream shops out there that don’t look after their machines, 40 samples of ice cream were taken to be tested for bacteria.
It was found that 9 out of 40 ice creams had levels of coliform, the bacteria do not necessarily cause illness but does show the unsanitary conditions. The managers of those ice cream shops were questioned as they had no response, they were surprised to find out the levels of bacteria in their ice cream.
