Nurses At A Nursing Home Found A Unique Way To Communicate With Their Patients. How Clever

Music is very powerful as it connects you to certain memories associated to songs, such as a time of happiness or sadness. It connects people to who they are, and brings out deep emotions. Music can help many people remember who they were and can lift their spirits. In one nursing home an Alzheimer’s patient wasn’t making any contact with the nurses, but kept asking for her iPod. Once she was given her music to listen to, she was moving her head and legs to the beat.

One doctor said “Music has more ability to activate more parts of the brain in any other stimulus”, and it is used to encourage engagement with Alzheimer’s patients. There is no pill that can achieve what music can to the patients.
